Teplov CPA Complimentary Review
Tools for Canadian IT Contractors

Is your corporation actually compliant?

Check the filings, registrations, and record-keeping areas that commonly need attention for incorporated IT contractors.

01 / Checklist

Mark each area based on what you know today.

A “need to confirm” answer is useful: it identifies the questions worth resolving before a deadline becomes a problem.

01T2 corporate return

Your most recent T2 return has been filed, or its due date is known.

02GST/HST registration and returns

Registration status and all required GST/HST returns are current.

03Payroll and T4 filings

Payroll remittances and T4 filings are current, if salary was paid.

04Dividends and T5 filings

Dividend declarations and T5 filings are prepared where dividends were paid.

05Corporate tax instalments

Required corporate income-tax instalments are being paid.

06GST/HST instalments

Required GST/HST instalments are being paid.

07Bookkeeping and reconciliations

Bank, credit-card, and sales-tax balances are reconciled.

08Shareholder loan

Amounts paid personally or withdrawn from the corporation are correctly tracked.

09Corporate registry annual return

The corporation’s provincial or federal annual return and registered-office details are current.

10Receipts and supporting documents

Invoices, receipts, contracts, and payment support are organized and retained.

11Foreign or U.S. revenue

Foreign invoices, exchange rates, withholding, and sales-tax treatment have been reviewed where applicable.

This is a screening tool, not a filing-status confirmation.

It organizes the matters that deserve review. Your actual obligations depend on your year-end, province, registrations, compensation, and business activity.
